Shrek's Swamp Is Now On Airbnb, Here's How To Book A Stay At The Cosy Cottage In Scotland

Every once in a while, an out-of-the-ordinary stay springs up on Airbnb that'll have everyone eager to jump on. There was an original Hobbiton movie set last year, and now, Shrek's Swamp is an actual place you can book on Airbnb to stay in!

Hilariously, the host of this stay is Donkey himself. The story is: once upon a time, Donkey agreed to swamp-sit for Shrek, and decided to invite guests over to experience living like an ogre.

Situated on the rolling hills of Scotland, Shrek's Swamp on Airbnb is a secluded haven perfect for living out your ogre dreams. It looks pretty much exactly like the film version, from the treehouse and muddy surroundings to the "Keep Out" sign.

Amidst the lush, overgrown landscape and under the tree is a cosy little cottage that houses up to three guests.

This rustic retreat is like a fairytale come to life! The bedroom and dining area is decked in earthy colours and furnished with furniture that has a charming handmade look. It all comes together for homey, lived-in vibes.

In true ogre fashion, the bathroom is situated at an outhouse 20 metres from the main house. Now, all that's left is Smash Mouth's All Star on blast and you can recreate that iconic opening scene from the 2001 Shrek film.

In the morning, Donkey will whip up a hearty breakfast treat of waffles.

For $0 a night – a nod to how Shrek let fairytale creatures of all kinds take refuge in his swamp when they were banished by Lord Farquaad – fans will be able to request to book an exclusive two-night swamp stay for up to three guests from 27 to 29 October 2023.
