You read that right! Located just 1 hour away from the popular Genting Highlands is a lesser-known holiday destination, Colmar Tropicale. Designed to look like Colmar, a charming storybook-esque town in northeastern France, this resort village comes with picturesque medieval buildings, cobblestone streets and small canals.

And no, Studio Ghibli fans, you're not imagining things! This village may look familiar to those who have seen the popular film Howl's Moving Castle, since the female lead Sophie's hometown is also modelled after Colmar.

Inside the village are gorgeous cafes, boutique stores and picturesque art galleries for visitors to explore. And of course, there is a hotel where guests can stay at, which offers panoramic views of the entire location.

But that's not all — besides having a full-on photoshoot in the streets or wandering the stores for souvenirs, there's a whole range of other exciting activities to get involved in.

The surrounding natural landscape houses the resort's Adventure Park, where guests can take on the Canopy Walk and Hi-Rope Obstacle Course, embark on a heart-pumping ride on the Flying Fox, go rock climbing, or even challenge their crew to an exciting game of paintball!

Those who prefer to take it slow on their holiday can take a stroll around the tranquil Japanese Garden, where you can rent a kimono to take pictures in. Once you've worked up an appetite, sit back and enjoy a relaxing meal at Ryo Zan Tei, an authentic Japanese restaurant nestled in a rainforest.

There are also European food options at diners like Italian sidewalk deli-restaurant La Flamme, and all-day French bakery La Boulangerie Cafe. Just looking at these inviting spreads is already giving us a heavy dose of wanderlust!

A night's stay at Colmar Tropicale starts at RM 208 (~S$59) per night for 2 pax (Superior Twin Room).
