Crafted by Chef de Cuisine Leon Yee and Pastry Chef Christopher Eng, the afternoon tea comes with an array of sweets and savouries infused with chocolate in traditional and creative means for a thoroughly satisfying time.

Starting things on a high note are scones including classic vanilla-flavoured ones as well as indulgent Double Chocolate Scones. Pair them with clotted cream and strawberry jam or amp up the chocolate factor further with the Chocolate Ganache spread.

The other dainty bites are served on the signature Portman's Bar picnic basket.

Although the savouries aren't carb-heavy, they're surprisingly hearty and filling! Some of them are crafted with chocolate, but in subtle ways that enhance the savoury flavours brilliantly. The creamy Caprese Tart has fresh tomato and chocolate balsamic complementing the mozzarella, while the duck rillette in the Waffle Basket has a pleasant, barely there sweetness from chocolate and orange pieces.

Other delicious bites to look forward to include the Lamb Skewer with cocoa rub, Moussaka with plant-based meat and eggplant, Sustainable Salmon with white chocolate and cauliflower, and Camembert Cheese atop bread and topped with chocolate pearls, fig jam and hazelnut.

Once you're ready to go full-chocolate, move on to the sweets. The chefs at Portman's Bar have outdone themselves yet again, creating the prettiest desserts.

A standout in both taste and aesthetic is 'Stone', which looks like a pebble with a bumblebee resting on it. This treat is a rich Guanja chocolate mousse with tangy lemon curd on a buttery biscuit base.

Another picture-perfect one is the Framboise Flower Pot. The 'pot' is made of raspberry-flavoured chocolate, and the 'soil' is a refreshing yuzu curd and whipped mascarpone cream.

There's also a plated dessert served with dry ice for dramatic effect. It comes with an uber-rich chocolate lava cake and aromatic black truffle ice cream - an outstanding combination and the highlight of the afternoon tea.

Still haven't had your fill of chocolate? The Sweets Wagon awaits you. There's a wide selection of chocolates, macarons, cookies and a wonderfully moist and rich chocolate gataeu.

If you're thinking that something's missing from this chocolate affair, it's the beverages! Round up the afternoon tea with the Chocolate Island Dream ($22). This rum-based cocktail is like a chocolate and banana milkshake, but elevated. Sounds like too much chocolate? Go for the Yuzu Fizz ($10) instead. This mocktail has zesty and refreshing flavours that cuts through the richness of all that chocolate.
